Dr. Odra W. Bradley - Tech
Principal
Odra W. Bradley was principal of Technical High School from 1971 to 1984.
He has a Doctorate of Education in Administration, Curriculum and Instruction; Master of Education in School Administration; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Secondary Education; with Teacher Certification.
While at Tech High, the student body consisted of 1600 to 1800 members in the 10th through 12th grades, with a combined staff of 170 to 175 certified personnel, custodial help, and food service workers.
A predominately black student body high school in the city of Omaha with a largely white staff during the late 1960's and early 1970's, Tech High was involved in the struggles of the Black Revolution. In 1971 and 1972, surveys indicated that 96% of the students were bitter, highly negative and prejudiced against whites. Furthermore, students had little or no confidence in the system. Only 2 years later, a similar survey indicated that students were content, actively involved in the education process, and proud of their high school and their accomplishments.
The leadership of Dr. Odra W. Bradley accomplished this change.
