Andrew Dagosta - 1943
Andrew Dagosta graduated from Technical High School in 1943. Andrew says that he received his formal training in art, at Omaha Tech.
In 1946, he moved to the west coast, settling in Glendale, California. There he enrolled for additional art studies at Hollywood Art Center. Upon completion of his education, he opened a commercial advertising art studio in Pasadena, California.
Due to his love of the "Old West," he soon joined with other artists with similar interests and co-founded the "American Indian and Cowboy Artists" of which he is now a life member. He has also been an active member in the "Los Angeles Corral of Westerners" since 1968.
His paintings are now in private collection in England, France, Majorca, Liechtenstein and Japan, as well as throughout the United States.
On 2 occasions he was a first place winner at the "Death Valley '49er Encampment Art Show."
Andrew was also selected as an illustrator for "Water Trails West." A publication of the Western Writers of America and published by Doubleday in New York.
He was featured artist in three Brand Books published by the "Los Angeles of Westerners", and is now working on 16 line drawings of the California Ranchos for Brand Book #20.
In addition, his paintings are being used as cover illustrations on 2 books published by Bison Books, "I Fought With Geronimo" and "The Apache Indians." The University of Nebraska Press publishes Bison Books.
Andrew is also listed in Samuel's "Contemporary Western Artists."
