Dr. Ruth Herman Nielson - Tech
Teacher
Mrs. Ruth Thorup Herman Nielsen was on the Technical High School staff from 1949 through 1968. Mrs. Nielsen started as a teacher and moved up to Counselor and then to Dean of Girls before leaving Tech.
Mrs. Nielsen received her BA degree from the University of Omaha, her MA Degree from the University of Cincinnati and her Ph.D from Wadden University.
Mrs. Nielsen was an educator for 40 years, mostly in Secondary Education. She also taught 2 years at Grad Vino College in Des Moines, Iowa, and a graduate class at Kearney.
Mrs. Nielsen has been a member of, and honored by, many organizations:
1967 - Elected Professional Woman of the Year in Omaha
1970-1971 - Who's Who of American Women
1997 - Outstanding Dane of Nebraska
1998 - 1999 - An Ageless Hero for Blue Cross Blue Shield
1998 - 1999 - Woman of Distinction in Omaha (YWCA & KETV)
Member of the Tech High Auditorium Restoration Committee.
