Johnny Rodgers - 1969
Johnny Rodgers graduated from Technical High School in 1969.
After graduation, he went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. After his senior year, he played professional football. He did return to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and a Bachelor of Journalism in Broadcasting.
Johnny was Athlete Of The Year for the State of Nebraska; Two-time All-American; Heisman Trophy recipient in 1972 at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln; Nebraska Hall of Fame 1973; Rookie of the Year Canadian Football League in 1973; All-Pro 1974-1976; Most Valuable Player Runner Up - Canadian Football League; Orange Bowl Hall of Honor; MVP in the history of the Big Eight; Nebraska Cornhusker of the Century, Hall of Fame 2000.
Johnny is President of the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Johnny Rodgers Youth Foundation was established by Johnny to benefit young men in the Lincoln and Omaha communities.
Johnny is currently producing collegiate merchandise such as active wear and novelty items in conjunction with the Universities of Nebraska, Kansas and Florida. Johnny's company, JetWear, Inc., has recently negotiated a contract with the JC Penny Catalog Company.
