Louie Blumkin - 1938
Louie Blumkin graduated from Technical High in 1938. Louie is the son of Rose Blumkin, founder of the Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon his mother's death, Louie became the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Louie, now 82 years old, holds the title of Chairman Emeritus of the Nebraska Furniture Mart. Even though he is retired, he maintains an office in the main store, and visits each of the buildings on the Furniture Mart's 70-acre complex. His sons, Ronald and Irving now run the business.
Louie served in the United States Army. He received the Purple Heart citation during his military service. He was Honorably discharged and returned to the United States in 1945.
Louie resides in Omaha, Nebraska.
