Richard (Dick) Christie - Tech

Teacher


Dick Christie is best known as Tech's Head Football Coach from 1958 to 1970. He was also the Head Track Coach from 1955 to 1958. He was responsible for implementing the "Dutch White Relays" which, through the 1960s were one of the top track meets in Nebraska. He was also Tech's first Golf Coach. He was assigned Athletic Director in 1971. As Athletic Director, he was also responsible for the development of the Girls Athletic Program.


Under his leadership, coaches like Curlee Alexander, Gene Haynes, Ozzie Wilson and Tim Bond developed.


The number of young men and women who benefited from his leadership can't be measured. His first interest was always what was best for the students.


Dick is retired and lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
