Sam Leftwich - 1944

Sam Leftwich graduated from Technical High in 1944. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1949, where he received a degree in Retail Management. He also served in the United States Navy Air Corps from 1944 to 1946.

He began his career at Kresges, (a member of the "five-and-dime" chain that was later to give birth to the highly successful K-Mart stores) in Omaha in 1949. Sam spent the next 38 years working for K-Mart. His natural ability at retail sales afforded him numerous promotions and he lived in excess of 11 different cities throughout his career.

After a number of promotions and moves, he rose through the corporate ladder of K-Mart and eventually earned the position of President and Chief Operating Officer. He held that position until his retirement.

Sam is retired and lives in Utah.
