Joe Edmonson - 1965
Robert Joseph Leslie Edmonson (Joe) graduated from Technical High in 1965. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and in 1972, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections. Joe also received a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice in 1978 and, in 1995 he received a Doctor of Humanitarian Services from Creighton University.
Joe was the Co-Founder/Director/Administrator of the Edmonson Youth Outreach/YMCA program. In 1968 Joe co-founded the Edmonson Youth Development Association. He served as the Head Coach of the Exploradories Wrestling Club and the Nebraska USAW Cadet Wrestling Team. From 1978 to 1980, Joe served as Head Coach of the USA School Boys Wrestling Team. He mentored 3 NCAA National Wrestling champions.
In 1964 Joe suffered a spinal injury in a high school trampoline accident that left him in a wheelchair as a quadriplegic. Sadly, Joe passed away July 8, 2002.
