Kenneth (Ken) E. Roy - Tech Teacher


Born in 1927 in Salina KS, Mr. Roy moved to Orlando FL where he graduated from high school in 1945. His family then moved to Hastings NE where he earned his BA degree, majoring in Speech & Dramatics from Hastings College. He obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1975.


He met and married Eunice A. (Mills) Roy on August 1, 1948. They were married 52 years until her death in 2000. Ken also served in the US Navy and the US Army Paratroopers during World War II.


Accepting a teaching position at Tech, he moved to Omaha in 1957, where he taught Speech, English, Drama and Stagecraft until 1972. From 1972-1978 he taught Special Education at the Individualized Study Center in Omaha. He then taught at Benson High until his retirement in 1986.


After retirement, he taught Speech at Iowa Western and Metro Tech. He also spent several years judging speech contests at various schools, universitits and colleges in the Omaha area.


Residing in Omaha, he has 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
