Thomas H. Warren, Sr. - 1979
Thomas H. Warren graduated from Tech in 1979. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Morningside College, with a double major: (1) Interdisciplinary Major in Criminal Justice and, (2) a second Major in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology. He received his Master of Science Degree with a Major in Criminal Justice and an Option in Public Administration in 1989, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Mr. Warren is a 20-year veteran of the Omaha Police Department, and was appointed to the position of Chief of Police in December of 2003 by Mayor Mike Fahey. He holds the distinction of being Omaha's first African-American Police Chief. He heads the state's largest law enforcement agency, which consists of 764 sworn officers and 239 non-sworn personnel, and manages an operating budget of $77 million dollars.
Chief Warren is very active in the Omaha community, having received the Omaha Public Schools A+ Award in 2004, and he was inducted into the Boys and Girls Clubs of American National Alumni Hall of Fame in San Antonio.
Chief Warren and his wife of 19 years, Aileen, reside in Omaha. They have 3 children.
