James W. Eisenhardt - Tech Teacher


Jim was Director of Theatre Arts, Technical High School 1972-1984, he build an award-winning Theater and Performing Arts program in an urban setting. Developed two performing groups (Clerestory Window and Neon Theater) to promote the desegregation program of the Omaha Public School. Jim created and implemented curriculum in Theater, Speech, English and Journalism. Jim also created and maintained professional alliances with the Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha, The Theater Caravan, The Omaha Community Playhouse and the Junior Theater.


After leaving Tech, Jim went to South High and was Director of Theater Arts from 1984-2003 and Department Chair, Visual and Performing Arts, South High Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School 2003-2006.


Jim developed ongoing education programs to expose students to local, national and international artists through attendance at performance and visual arts opportunities. Jim created a nationally and locally recognized performing arts program which has been awarded for exemplary teaching and service by The Buffett Foundation, Arts on the Green, Nebraska Theater Assoc., Simon and Schuster, the National Endowment for the Humanities, Opera Omaha and The Omaha Community Playhouse.
