Ronald D. Olsen - 1960
Ronald D. Olsen was a Sergeant in the U. S. Army then graduated from U. N. O. with a Construction Management degree and was Founder and President of Ronco Construction Company in 1976. Ron has been President of the Associated General Contractors of America (1999), President of the Omaha Executives Association (2007). Ron and his company have completed over 1,000 projects from Schools, hospitals and private homes in Omaha and surrounding area.
Ron has received the Omaha Chamber of Commerce Beautification Award (1986), the Associated General Contractors of America Excellence in Safety award ten (10) times.
Ron and his wife Linda have donated to dozens of charities world wide, such as supporting a hospital in Mubai, India where over 200,000 people go a year and many cannot pay. Another favorite is an orphanage called “My Father’s House” set up in Mexico. Children are given a Christian education, clothed, fed, and loved. Through other ministries, orphanages in the Incas in Peru, South America, Guatemala and Africa where medical care, food, clothing and help in planting crops are given.
One of Ronco’s goals is to donate 10 pieces of art in 20 years to the city or state to say thank you Omaha and Nebraska for all the work they have given Ronco. Ronco has donated 3 so far: The Bull Bison at Standing Bear Lake; The bronze plaques that are on the wall in the Court House that have the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights; and the playhouse “four by four” that was built at Lauritenzen Gardens and located in the Play Area. Ron thought more on a worldly perspective of what, where and how he could do his part to help humanity.
Ron passed away April 7, 2007.
